Town Podgora is situated in the heart of Dalmacija on the Makarska Riviera, 70 km south of Split, 8 km from Makarska and 150 km north of Dubrovnik. It lies on slops of mountain Biokovo which highest point is Sveti Jure (Saint George)1762 meters. In front are islands Hvar and Brac, south are Korcula and peninsula Pelješac. Great promenade with palm trees, restaurants and romantic coffees dominate the town, next to the peeble beach and crystal clear sea. Friendly and hospitable local population of 1 500 inhabitants, the majority live from tourism which is rapidly expanding the last 30 years. Also the local people are involved in planning and harvesting olive and fig trees. Accommodation is available in hotels, private houses and auto camp.
